Gillette Castle State Park

Winterthur
There is a little something for everyone. Winterthur is the premier museum of American art and culture, home to more than 1,000 acres of protected meadows, woodlands, ponds, and waterways. You can spend the day enjoying house and garden tours, strolling through miles of walking trails, and the kids will love the Enchanted Woods.
The Queen
Hands down the coolest venue in Delaware. Originally built in the early 1800s as a hotel for sailors, it was turned into a movie theater then eventually into the music venue it is now. There’s a wide range of entertainment, and they’re always rotating local DE beer on tap!
District of Columbia
Renwick Gallery
Steps from the White House, this beautiful gallery features contemporary craft and decorative art pieces. Many visitors praise the gallery for its small size and timed entries, great for spending more time with the art.
Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens
Super pretty and a good excuse to go into a part of DC that’s not often visited. If you’re around in July, check out the Lotus & Water Lily Festival.

Devil’s Den Spring
Dive or snorkel in a spring inside a cave with an open skylight. If you love taking a dip in spring water, the nearby Ocala National Forest contains many more springs that are open for general swimming.
Lightner Museum

Blue Ridge
A charming mountain town in the lush Chattahoochee National Forest. Known for a pleasant atmosphere, unique shopping, fantastic hiking trails, and the wonderful scenic Appalachian Railway Train, which winds its way through the Forest to several nearby sister towns.

Ka’iwa Ridge (Lanikai Pillbox) Trail

Cunningham Falls State Park
The park is home to the aviary at Cunningham Falls as well as the annual Maple Syrup Festival. Spend the day hiking and fishing, and stay overnight in an on-site cabin.
Assateague Island National Seashore
Great place to camp and see wild horses. You can take a tour of the island by kayak as well.

Halibut Point State Park

The Bridge of Flowers/Shelburne Falls
Even if you don’t consider yourself a “flower child,” this masterpiece of natural art will have you in awe. The Bridge of Flowers is normally open April 1 – October 31.

Fun place to visit with lots of great views and hiking spots. If you forget your hiking gear, take a ride through the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive for some great overlook views.

Grand Marais and the North Shore
Home to the state’s oldest art colony, this town features World’s Best Donuts and amazing views of Lake Superior. It’s an excellent stop on the way to exploring Minnesota’s outdoor wonders such as the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, the Superior Hiking Trail, and the Gunflint Trail.

Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge
Dig and discover selenite crystals that contain hourglass structures. These unique crystals are only found in this one area of the world. Digging season is open from April 1 - October 15. Admission is free, and you can take 10 pounds of salt home.
