Meeting security needs through an inclusive approach
This annual event brings together employees from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and current and prospective contractors to learn about and share best practices. It’s also an opportunity to bring awareness to health equity and disparities initiatives, listen to program executives discuss their priorities, strategies, and roadmaps, and learn about other opportunities. Ad Hoc, a sponsor of CMS Industry Day, was honored to support and participate in this event and share how we’re helping CMS address their customers’ changing needs.
In keeping with this year’s theme of “Embracing Change: Adapting for the Future,” our panel explored the question of what happens when accessibility isn’t integrated into security practices. During “An inclusive approach: secure and accessible digital services”, you’ll hear from Ad Hoc team members:
- Brooke Bell, Account Executive, Federal Health
- Kathy Keating, VP of Engineering
- Tim Wright, Associate Managing Software Engineer
As government agencies work to meet evolving security mandates, it’s critical that they make accessibility a core part of the process, not an afterthought. Security and accessibility can complement each other and create effective solutions for users. At Ad Hoc, we believe accessibility is more than simply checking a 508 compliance box; it’s about people and creating a more inclusive, equitable world for everyone. This is why the notion of Accessibility Beyond Compliance is at the heart of all we do.
During our brief, informative conversation, you’ll hear our thoughts on how we address accessibility while also adhering to executive orders for government digital services, including Zero Trust and multifactor authentication. You’ll learn how we work to ensure digital services are secure and everyone is able to access the content they need.
We also identify strategies and techniques CMS and other government agencies can use to secure their applications while providing an accessible environment for all users.
What’s the most important element for government agencies to keep in mind regarding the intersection between accessibility and security? View our video and learn how accessibility and security go hand-in-hand.
